Bethan Gray

One of the latest additions to Bethan Gray’s Shamsian Collection is their new Monochrome finish, shown here on the 3-door Nizwa cabinet. The detailing takes inspiration from the architectural patterning of the Nizwa Fort in Oman. Elegantly crafted using brass overlay, the repeating pattern on Bethan’s Nizwa pieces reflect the rounded architectural composition of the fort’s castellation. The Nizwa collection is made with beautiful maple veneer sourced from Italy and the ombré effect on the cabinet is created by hand using a technique called stain shading.

KPPR

KPPR have been managing a publicity campaign for award-winning South African stand-up Trevor Noah, ahead of his first ever UK arena date – a now sold out show at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday 19th May 2018. Having sold out his stand up shows across five continents, Noah’s appeal has rocketed even further over the past two years, since he took over hosting duties from Jon Stewart on Comedy Central’s Emmy Award-winning news satire programme The Daily Show in the US, in September 2015. This will be the first time in two and a half years that the celebrated comedian has performed in the UK.

HOUZZ OF 2018, Interior Design by Run For The Hills

Run For The Hills are very excited to finally get to talk about the Houzz of 2018, which opens its doors in Greek St in less than two weeks.

They were approached towards the end of last year by Houzz UK, and invited to pitch for the opportunity to partner with them on a major pop-up installation in the heart of Soho designed to showcase the coolest upcoming interior design trends of 2018.

Originally, Houzz reached out to a range of top London design studios, planning to give each successful consultancy a single floor of the five-storey townhouse to design. But, they fell in love with the Run For The Hills concept pitch, and invited them to concept and style the entire house as the sole designers of Houzz of 2018. A huge task in such a small space of time, but they didn’t hesitate and signed up on the spot.

GWS Studio Holders inspiring the young people of Westminster and Luxembourg

Over the past few weeks Great Western Studios has played host to two fantastic school visits.

Students from Westminster Academy visited the site in November to put their questions to our experts during Westminster Enterprise Week.  Westminster Enterprise Week is an annual event supporting young people in turning their business ideas into reality. This year’ s programme includes talks from high-profile entrepreneurs including Margaret Mountford and Tim Campbell from the BBC’s ‘The Apprentice’, tours of Westminster’s enterprise spaces, master-classes and workshops to inspire young people to start up their own business.

This week, for the fifth year running Great Western Studios have hosted the International School of Luxembourg as part of their Art & Design research trip to London. The guided tour featured exposure to a range of different designers and working artist helping the students expand their understanding of the creative industries.

A big thank you to all the studio holders that made these two events possible!

The Collection is available with either plain or decorative legs giving a choice of contemporary or classical look. Read more here.

Run For The Hills

Run For The Hills are busy working on the design of a number of high profile new restaurants, fashioning both the interior and designing the in-venue graphics, signage, wayfinding and menus. Our concept design for Kricket’s larger, third outpost in the new BBC Television Centre development is taking shape nicely and the new restaurant will sit next to Bluebird and opposite the new White City House brasserie. They also recently launched a cool new eatery in the GWS local hood, in Notting Hill called Mắm (pictured), which is on the ultra hip All Saints Road, and is a new style of Vietnamese Barbeque restaurant, from the talented team behind Salvation In Noodles. They’ve also opened two Island Poké’s, a cool pizzeria in Peckham and they are installing CLAW’s first bricks and mortar restaurant in Carnaby. Other recent F&B highlights include re-branding Indian Street food pioneers Dabbawal in Newcastle and developing a brand new Pisco Bar and Cevicheria concept to hit Central London very soon. On the residential side, Run For The Hills were delighted to have been shortlisted twice in the International Design & Architecture Awards, for our remodelling of a Kensington stucco apartment and their design work on a Listed Townhouse in Islington. They have also been jetting Stateside over the summer, styling Ellie Goulding’s New York loft apartment and are just about to start work on her gorgeous new Central London home.

Run For the Hills

Run For the Hills have a raft of new hospitality openings coming up, including the recently launched Made Of Dough in the heart of Peckham. The up and coming MOD pizza champs first made a name for themselves on the festival circuit, before taking up a residency in Brixton Pop alongside a lot of the youngest and hippest F&B brands, serving up saucy slices to a hip and edgy soundtrack. Shipping container stint behind them, they enlisted Run For The Hills back in the Spring, to help them style up their first bricks and mortar restaurant. The studio got cracking with spatial planning and tech layouts and then gave their new space an edgy gold and black interior design makeover. Adding a RFTH signature topping of in-venue graphics, including a cool fly posted wallpaper mash up. Check out the full Made of Dough case study here.

In other restaurant design news, the studio is also set to launch a new Vietnamese in Notting Hill and are working on the design of several new sites for their Hawaiian sushi clients at Island Poke. The studio has also been shortlisted for two International Design & Architecture Awards for some of their residential design projects, also getting special recognition in the Property Marketing awards for their branding and brochure design work for The Market Building. Busy times indeed.

Dan Marks Studio fantastic first restaurant

Dan Marks Studio are delighted to have completed their first restaurant for Monty’s Deli in April this year.

They’re thrilled that Monty’s is getting great press including an excellent feature in Wallpaper* magazine. In designing the space they set out to expose original features that help to uncover the building’s narrative and, ultimately, add character to the finished scheme. The front of house restaurant design acts as a foil to the historic building fabric. It is the juxtaposition of contemporary fit out elements with the original historic building features that make the end product warm, soulful and distinct.
