As a special Christmas treat, Great Western Studios will be hosting an exhibition where children can interact, discover and invent their very own story book characters.
The exhibition will inspire and educate children and adults in the art of illustration and also provide the rare opportunity to meet two successful children’s book illustrators and discover how they work.
Bruce Ingman and Trisha Krauss have written a storybook and invite you to have a go at creating your own characters. The exhibition will explore the relationships between illustrator, writer and publisher, also looking at the story behind characters and giving an insight into the processes of creating an illustrated children’s story book.
On Thursday 5th Dec 2013 from 4pm Bruce and Trisha will be signing and reading some of their most popular and renowned books. Join Great Western Studios in this celebration of creativity. Bruce Ingman
Bruce Ingman is an internationally acclaimed award-winning author and illustrator. Born in Liverpool, he studied at the Royal College of Art.
His first book, When Martha’s Away, won the prestigious Mother Goose Award for the Best British Newcomer to Children’s Picture Books and The Overall Winner V&A Illustration Award. His partnership with author Allan Ahlberg has yielded many successes including, The Runaway Dinner, Previously, Everybody was a Baby Once and The Pencil – Winner of the Redhouse Children’s Picture Book Award and Time magazine’s Children’s Book of the Year. Their latest book,Hooray for Bread, was published in February 2013.
Bruce has also recently illustrated Ronny Rock Starring in Monster Cake Meltdown and Ronny Rock Starring in a Thousand Tiny Explosions written by Merryn Threadgould. His next book, Henry Tate, which he has written and illustrated will be published by Tate Publishing in 2014. He is an Ambassador for the House of Illustration, the world’s first dedicated home for the art of illustration; from adverts to animation, picture books to political cartoons and scientific drawings to fashion design.
Bruce teaches illustration at The CASS London Metropolitan University.
Trisha Krauss
Trisha Krauss’s Maude, The Not So Noticeable Shrimpton, written by Lauren Child, was published in October 2012 by Puffin UK and released in the US by Candlewick Press in 2013.
Trisha Krauss is an American illustrator who spent the beginning of her career in New York City. She started off freelancing for many well-known magazines and newspapers such as: The New Yorker, The New York Times, Town and Country, Travel and Leisure and the Washington Post. Before moving to London she illustrated several published books and book covers.
