Idler Academy: Calligraphy Taster Course
Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 29th November 2017
7pm

Try your hand at calligraphy with expert teacher Susie Deane at the Idler Academy – just in time for writing Christmas cards.

In this two-week taster course, starting on Wednesday 22nd November, you will explore the different tools and styles involved in calligraphy. “Calligraphy is so hands on, it is difficult to follow from a book,” says Susie, “that’s the beauty of a course.” With Susie’s guidance, problems are quickly solved and you’ll have fun at the same time.

“The course was one of the best that I’ve ever attended, and Susie was a marvellous teacher. Wednesday evenings just aren’t the same anymore,” says one of Susie’s past students.

Drawing on their background in publishing, advertising and design, they push and stretch the possibilities of narratives through extreme innovation and awesome technology. They help partners around the world like Google Creative Labs, Ace Hotel, WeTransfer, Vitsoe and Five Dials to create narrative driven story experiences in the form of books, apps, urls, events, installations. Visual Editions like to say they operate at the cross-section of publishing, design, culture and tech. And that everything they do is powered by magic.

Run For The Hills

Run For The Hills are busy working on the design of a number of high profile new restaurants, fashioning both the interior and designing the in-venue graphics, signage, wayfinding and menus. Our concept design for Kricket’s larger, third outpost in the new BBC Television Centre development is taking shape nicely and the new restaurant will sit next to Bluebird and opposite the new White City House brasserie. They also recently launched a cool new eatery in the GWS local hood, in Notting Hill called Mắm (pictured), which is on the ultra hip All Saints Road, and is a new style of Vietnamese Barbeque restaurant, from the talented team behind Salvation In Noodles. They’ve also opened two Island Poké’s, a cool pizzeria in Peckham and they are installing CLAW’s first bricks and mortar restaurant in Carnaby. Other recent F&B highlights include re-branding Indian Street food pioneers Dabbawal in Newcastle and developing a brand new Pisco Bar and Cevicheria concept to hit Central London very soon. On the residential side, Run For The Hills were delighted to have been shortlisted twice in the International Design & Architecture Awards, for our remodelling of a Kensington stucco apartment and their design work on a Listed Townhouse in Islington. They have also been jetting Stateside over the summer, styling Ellie Goulding’s New York loft apartment and are just about to start work on her gorgeous new Central London home.
