Sophie Nguyen Architects latest project near Brixton

Sophie Nguyen Architects have just finished a new project near Brixton, a beautiful sun trap – the Casa del Sol.

The particular focus of the project was the extension of the lower ground floor of a terraced house into the side alley to create a generous kitchen and dining space, to bring more light in and create a seamless connection to the garden. For this project, the kitchen is introduced as a single standalone element that is placed in the newly annexed side alley. This element maintains its distance from the living space through the glazed gap to the wall of the house – the project is vertical rather than horizontal, bringing clarity to the space as a result. This conversion and the adjoining garden have been conceived to maximise the light that streams into the house.

A sun trap has been created in the middle of Lambeth – the Casa del Sol.

GWS Social: Let’s have a drink!

Thurs 19th November
6pm

It’s been a few months since the last GWS gathering, so we’re very please to announce that the next Great Western Social will take place next month… on a Friday!

We know it’s a pretty ‘risqué’ move to host our drinks on a Friday night but we figured you’d rather rest your sore head in bed, rather then on your desk!

Join us from 6pm at The Union Tavern (5 minutes walk from GWS along the canal) for a catch up, a few drinks and hopefully some sunshine.

The last few socials have been a huge success so put this in your calendar today and come along, introduce yourself and engage in our fantastic creative community.
