Idler Talk: How To Fix The Future
Monday 5th March
7pm – 9:30pm

On Monday 5th March, The Idler are hosting an exciting event here at GWS and you’re all invited!

This event will consist of a filmed talk between The Idler and Andrew Keen, where audience members are encouraged to participate, whilst enjoying a complimentary Hendrick’s gin and tonic.

Andrew has for many years been one of the lone voices out there attacking big tech. He will be discussing his new book, ‘How to Fix the Future: Staying Human in the Digital Age’.

The Idler are offering all studio holders free tickets!

GWS Social: Christmas Party!

We’re very excited to announce the date and location of this year’s Great Western Studios Christmas Party!

Join us in The Feeding House Cafe on Thursday the 7th December from 6pm for a festive affair of fantastic food, plenty of booze, and friends, new and old, to mingle with.

Party hats and Christmas jumpers are optional but always encouraged!

Idler Academy: Calligraphy Taster Course
Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 29th November 2017

Try your hand at calligraphy with expert teacher Susie Deane at the Idler Academy – just in time for writing Christmas cards.

In this two-week taster course, starting on Wednesday 22nd November, you will explore the different tools and styles involved in calligraphy. “Calligraphy is so hands on, it is difficult to follow from a book,” says Susie, “that’s the beauty of a course.” With Susie’s guidance, problems are quickly solved and you’ll have fun at the same time.

“The course was one of the best that I’ve ever attended, and Susie was a marvellous teacher. Wednesday evenings just aren’t the same anymore,” says one of Susie’s past students.

New Studios become available

In Q3 2017 our new studio spaces will be ready to be moved into!

GWS is currently undergoing an expansion. As part of the works, we will be creating:

• 34 new studios, including duplexes, ranging from 250sqft to 2250sqft.
• A new, much larger and beautiful cafe at the front of the building with a garden terrace offering over 100 covers
• Meeting rooms and gallery space and photographic studio
• Completely refurbished WCs throughout
• Additional shower facilities
• More undercover cycle parking
• Extra lift & atrium staircase to improve vertical movement

GWS Social: End of Summer Bash!

Sophie Nguyen Architects‘ project for the London Festival of Architecture, explores a neglected stretch of the Grand Union Canal towpath, and gathers suggestions as to how to improve it. Dingy and Overshadowed…This space needs LOVE.

Come and participate in #GrandUnionDesigns17, an exhibition created by Sophie Nguyen Architects, which will take place in the atrium of Great Westerns Studios from 7th June to 30th June.

Join Great Western Studios and Farm Girl for the grand reopening of The Feeding House Cafe in it’s new location within the building!

The Feeding House Café not only prides itself on serving great Australian coffee, but more importantly long-standing relationships with each and every tenant of the building.

Using high-quality, locally sourced ingredients, we have curated a nutritious and vast menu to adapt to the wonderful community within Great Western Studios. The menu includes anything from eggs, pancakes and superfood smoothies for breakfast to endless choices of fresh salads and sandwiches for lunch. Our magical courtyard and comfortable dining area seats over 120 people, creating the perfect sanctum for client entertaining or studio meetings.
